Waveney Championship 2020 – September 12th-13th

Having been postponed from June, due to Covid-19, the Waveney Championship was sailed in glorious sunny and breezy conditions in September. 13 boats took part and the racing was fiercely contested. W15 'Creeping Jenny', sailed by Jake and Trevor Balls, took the trophy for the second year running, with Geoff Little and Sue Harper in W24 'Naiad' 2nd overall. Full results can be found here.

Bart’s Bash race – Saturday 12th September

Our Bart's Bash race was sailed in breezy, sunny conditions and 11 boats took part. The leaders round the course were Kyle Beamish and Jordan Levett in Catastrophe but on handicap the top 3 were Alan Cone (Laser), Duncan Madin (RS Aero 9) and Edward Nourse (Laser).

Thank you to everyone who donated to the good causes of the club's Building Project and the Andrew Simpson Foundation.

WOBYC BOD Weekend Sept 5th-6th

Very close racing in the Broads One Design fleet this weekend. Saturday's race for the Sanderling Trophy was won in gusty conditions by Tom Thwaites and Christian Young in Ibis, with Guy Foulger and Neil Quantrill 2nd in Peewit. On Sunday Mark Oakes and Christian won the 1st race in Harrier but could only manage 6th in race 2 which was won by Sam Cole and Steve Evans in Pipit. With no discards allowed, the final results depended on race 3 and Harrier gained another win and so took the George Barker Trophy. Pipit was 2nd overall and Ibis, now crewed by Flip Foulds, was 3rd, just ahead of Chris Schonhut and Graham Reeve in Little Auk.

Final Wednesday evening racing – Sept 2nd

Congratulations to the winners of the two Wednesday evening series - Waveney 10 Iris (the Marfleets and Larges) in the keelboats and James Nourse (Laser 189268) in the dinghies.

Thank you to everyone who competed in our rather short Oulton Week - and to everyone who helped make it happen including the race recorders, the safety team, the results team, the race team, the dinghy park launch and recovery team, and the people who kept the clubhouse clean during the days and nights.

There are lots of photos posted in the Waveney & Oulton Broad Yacht Club group on Facebook and some people have posted elsewhere online. Check out Trish Barnes's photos on Dropbox and Keith Sowter's on Flickr .
