Thames Sailing Barge at Lowestoft

Published 19:26 on 28 May 2024

The engineless Thames sailing barge will be berthing in Lowestoft this weekend and will be opening to the public at selected times, with a travelling exhibition of sailing barge heritage in her hold, and we will also be screening a nautical feature film Wind, Tide & Oar on Friday and Saturday evenings. This is all free courtesy of the Heritage Fund, but a free ticket is necessary to see the film, from www.windtideandoarcom/sea-tour

We also have a rare opportunity available for adults to join a coastal voyage aboard the engineless Blue Mermaid. We are offering a four night voyage: Monday 3rd June Friday 7th June, starting in Lowestoft and ending at the Tide Mill in Woodbridge. Guests can either sit back and enjoy the experience or learn the ropes under the expert eye of our sea-staff. No previous experience is necessary. The voyage is £490 per head. We are also offering the opportunity for guests to do the newly launched National Historic Ships Traditional Seafarer Certificate whilst onboard. This would be ideal for anyone wanting to know a little more about sailing heritage vessels.
